Major Sheffield waterway heavily stocked with trout. During the summer months, crayfish become the dominant forage for Smallmouth Bass in the middle and lower reaches. The main stem is formed by the confluence of the West Branch and the South Branch near Sheffield. It is joined downstream by the East Branch and significant tributaries like Salmon Creek.
