Appearance
Silvery-white body with several dark horizontal stripes (usually only one extends to the tail). Deep-bodied and laterally compressed with two separate dorsal fins.

Primary Habitat
Large lakes, reservoirs, and deep river pools. Prefers clear, open water with sandy or rocky bottoms.

Primarily piscivorous, targeting shad, shiners, and young perch.
